Will I lose any files or functionality during a migration?

A website migration can be stressful. And the thought of losing files or functionality will only intensify that. However, we’re here to put your worries to rest as we explain why, unless in exceptional circumstances, you won’t lose any files or functionality during a website migration.

We try to make website migrations as pain-free as possible, by:

• Firstly, including the migration free of charge with all our web hosting packages.
• And secondly, carrying out the migration into a staging environment to make sure it’s working, before carrying out the full switch.

Please note: do check whether we can host your type of website in the first place.

Will I lose any files?

You won’t loose any files. We will make sure all* website files & databases are copied from your hosting provider and uploaded to the new server in their entirety.

*This is providing we are given complete access, and not partial access.

Will I lose any functionality?

In theory, no. Although we cannot guarantee this, because there are a few factors that need to be considered, such as:

• The age of the website,
• If any software is out of date or running deprecated code,
• The server environment we’ll be transferring from.

We will be able to tell you if there will be any discrepancies in functionality once we’ve had a look at your current hosting environment and the website’s back office. From there, we can advise on the next steps and take certain precautions.

As discussed above, we carry out a migration into a staging environment on our server to check whether it’s all working before making the full switch.
