Apart from taking out Google Ads to reach page 1, it can sometimes feel a bit overwhelming to get there organically.
Here are our top 5 tips for getting your website to page 1 of Google (and other search engines) ORGANICALLY, which also means, without spending much, if any, money.
Before We Begin, Here’s Google’s Search Engine Matrix
Highlighted are at the top are Google Ads, midway through are the Google Business Listings, and at the bottom are the organic search results.

Now diving in…
1) Keywords, Metadata & SEO Titles
Keywords, metadata and SEO Titles help Google to index your website’s pages and rank them accordingly. They are the fundamental ‘on-page’ SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) features that everyone raves about. But they’re only one part of what you can do to improve your website’s ranking.
You may need someone to help you input these depending on your website’s platform. Get in touch if you’d like some help.
2) Online Directories
One of the simplest ways to increase your search engining ranking is to sign up to online directories. Make sure they’re directories with a good domain authority or relevant to your industry. Signing up to as many different directories as you possibly can, can have a negative impact to your SEO. So relevance is key.
Also, you don’t need to spend money, there are plenty of free directories around. And don’t forget to get yourself a Google Business Listing!
3) Guest Blogging
This is writing an article or blog post for other websites. This is a great way of generating more references of your website on the internet but also increasing the traffic to your website.
Choose websites with high volumes of traffic and remember to get them to put a link back to your website in the article.
4) Time
You don’t have much control over this factor but it does play an important part in determining ranking. Older and more established domains and their corresponding websites are more likely to rank above newer websites – providing you the older website is kept up to date and follows the latest SEO trends.
Basically, don’t go changing domains every 6 months!
5) Blogging
Creating content on your website doesn’t just give you great info to share on social media but, when setup correctly, will allow Google to index your posts and start to rank them in search results, giving your website more chances to be found by potential customers.

A quick note on Google Ads
Google Ads can be great. They have the power to draw vast sums of visitors to your website for relatively small amounts of money, but note, when you stop paying for the ads, you stop getting the click throughs and the impressions.
So it’s up to you what you invest your time (and or money) in.
