One key question we often get asked is ‘What platforms do we build websites with?’. The answer is pretty much just WordPress, but read on to find out why.
There are hundreds of “website building” softwares around, from simple drag and drop softwares to large content management systems (CMSs). They each have a purpose and will suit different businesses depending on their industry, purpose of the site, size of the site and often budget.
For us however, WordPress is the one clear winner…
Why do we build with WordPress? #
We have in the past worked with platforms like Joomla, Drupal and OctoberCMS and have created websites from the ground up (hard coding). However the vast majority of our projects involve WordPress.
We’ll look at WordPress from both a web developer’s perspective and a non-technical user’s perspective.
For developers #
WordPress is highly customisable. It has over 50,000 plugins (external software) and over 7,000 different themes available.
And also, if you can’t find the right functionality from a plugin or the right styling from a theme, then it is relatively straightforward to create plugins and themes yourself.
So you can get a website looking and working exactly as you and your client want it to.
For non-technical users #
Once a WordPress website has been designed and created, it can be relatively easy to make amends such as adding or editing blog posts, pages & products.
We have a range of How To articles to help you understand, navigate and manage your WordPress website.
What the world thinks of WordPress #
The simple fact of its popularity is that WordPress powers over one third of all websites currently active.
That statistic speaks for itself.
We’ve been creating WordPress websites for companies and organisations in Didcot, Abingdon, Wallingford, Wantage, Oxford and more since 2016.
