Online security is a growing concern and rightly so. Cyber crime is steadily increasing and cyber criminals are becoming craftier. “Will my website be secure on your platform” is often a key question we get asked when talking about our website hosting services or moving hosting providers. So, let’s discuss this now.
Platform vs website #
Before we proceed, it’s important to distinguish the difference in website security and platform security.
Website security is the measures taken on or within your website to bolster security, such as keeping it well maintained and the software up to date.
Platform security is the security measures in place on the hosting platform and data centre. This is what we’ll be discussing below.
Unfortunately, if we didn’t build your website or don’t maintain it, we can’t comment on the actual website security (or perhaps lack of). But we’d welcome the opportunity to review it and offer some advice – please get in touch. However, if your website was built by us and you’ve opted for one of our maintenance plans, then you can rest assured knowing your website is kept up to date and actively monitored.
Our platforms security measures #
We take security seriously.
Websites hosted on our platform will benefit from a huge array of security measures.
SSL #
All our hosting plans come with an SSL as standard. An SSL stands for Secure Sockets Layer which is a level of encryption designed to stop harmful attacks and malware. It enables encrypted browsing for your website visitors safety and peace of mind. For complex web-apps and e-commerce sites we normally install an SSL with a higher key length (for more advanced security).
