We’ve been asked a couple of times recently "when is the best time to re-design your website?" and, the answer is not quite as simple as you would think.
So, we’ve compiled a few thoughts to help you determine if it’s time to get a new lick of paint.
Has your brand or business changed?
When a company’s brand changes, often the last thing that follows is the website. Ask yourself, “does your site currently reflect your brand & values?”
How old is your website?
Technology changes rapidly in this digital world. Websites created just 2 or 3 years ago can sometimes be considered ‘out of date’.
To give you an idea: 10 years ago websites used to be filled mainly with text and seldom worked on a mobile phone; 5 years ago images and sliders were the rave (and very much still are); but recent trends indicate motion capture (videos) are rising in popularity and perhaps will be the norm in the near future!
Is your website performing how you want it?
Essential is it generating leads or sales? Or, if your business is quite personal, is it still acting as a great reference?
These are just a couple of questions you will need to consider to make sure your website is still on track.
Are you seeing a return on your investment?
Essentially, are you getting your monies worth? Although seen as a necessity (which they pretty much are) a website is still (kind of) a form of advertising in which it needs to quantified against results.
We’d advise to have a good review of your website. It would be better if you can ask someone outside of your business to have a rummage through, as they will give an impartial opinion.
