My House, My Things
A personal project and a different side of the business. A quiet record of what is in your house, what it cost, and what needs doing, as a Mac app you buy once.

A project of my own.
This one is mine. My House, My Things is a Mac app for keeping a quiet record of your house: what is in each room, what it cost, when the warranty runs out, and the jobs that come back round. The boiler service, the gutter clear, the chimney sweep. Set the interval once and it tells you when.
It started because I did not have a list, and I suspect most people do not. The facts you look up twice a decade, the paint code for the hall, where the stopcock is, were spread across emails, receipts and memory. So I built the thing I wanted, and put it on a website that says what it does in plain words.
What I built
The app is native macOS, written in Swift, and it is local first on purpose. There is no account, no sync and no telemetry. It reads and writes one plain file on your Mac and sends nothing anywhere, because nothing else was ever needed. If I stop working on it tomorrow, your records still open.
The marketing site is the same stack as this one: Astro on Cloudflare, no page builder, and nothing that tracks you. Between them they show a side of the business that does not come up on a WordPress brochure site: designing a product from a blank page, and saying no to the features it does not need.
Where it is now
Out now on the Mac App Store, for macOS 14 or later, with an iPhone app to follow. It costs £34.99, once, with no subscription. A house is a thirty-year thing, and I have written about why I am charging once rather than monthly and about what shipping it taught me. If you have a product idea of your own, custom development is where that conversation starts.
